Virginia Relay TTY
We are moving! The Virginia Beach Planning Department is relocating to the Municipal Center into newly renovated spaces in Building 3 located at 2403 Courthouse Drive (the former City Hall building). The Planning Department’s offices at Sabre Street will close for the move at 5 p.m., Thursday, May 1 and will reopen at Building 3 at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, May 7.

Virginia Relay TTY
Permits & Inspections will accept submittals at the counter (Municipal Center, Building 3, 2403 Courthouse Drive, Virginia Beach) only for small plan sets meeting the requirements listed below. Counter reviews will be performed during normal office hours.
All other items should be submitted online. The initial review for online submissions takes three business days. Revisions will also be done in three business days.
Commercial building plan sets must meet the following criteria to be accepted at the counter:
Interior and exterior alterations with a work area of 2,500 square feet or less
No change of use
No A, I, or H uses
Plan sets of five pages or less
Residential building plan sets must meet the following criteria to be accepted at the counter:
Additions 500 square feet or less, plan set shall not exceed five pages
Alterations with a work area of 500 square feet or less, plan set shall not exceed five pages
Accessory structures 500 square feet or less, plan set shall not exceed five pages
Uncovered decks of any size, plan set shall not exceed five pages
