The Permits & Inspections Division administers the Uniform Statewide Building Code and the associated laws and ordinances of the Commonwealth of Virginia and the City of Virginia Beach that contribute to the health, safety and welfare of the community. 

It also administers Department of Environmental Quality regulations relating to stormwater, erosion and sediment control for private development and franchise utilities.
