The Board of Building Code Appeals shall hear and render fair and competent decisions regarding the application of the Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code. 

• Meeting Information: Scheduled as needed.
• Composition Requirements: Seven members and a maximum of three alternate members appointed by City Council. Members will meet the following requirements: one registered design professional who is an architect; one registered design professional with structural engineering or architectural experience; one mechanical or plumbing engineer or contractor with a minimum of ten years experience; one electrical engineer or contractor with a minimum of ten years experience; one residential property manager with a minimum of five years experience; and two individuals with a minimum of five years experience in an occupational or professional field related to the construction industry. Alternate members will have a minimum of five years of experience in a field related to the construction industry.
• Term Length: 5 years
